This Norseman pattern isn't really a throwing 'hawk.  It's more of a Viking battle axe. The head is cast with the traditional ears.  It's weight is very close to the weight of the originals. Some folks do have good results throwing this one though it's a bit heavy.

This Medieval Axe could have been a Viking ship builder's tool. The head weighs about 27 ounces and is in the "bearded axe" style. This allows the user to get his hand behind the edge for shaving strokes. There is a pronounced hammer poll for driving nails, peening rivets, and so forth.

The Viking is an excellent copy of a Viking belt axe, complete with the pronounced "ears" so typical of the Viking style.  This should serve well as a general camp hand axe in addition to a throwing 'hawk.

The Warrior Axe is another not really intended for throwing. It is modeled after the highly decorated war axes of the American Indians. The head is cast with the traditional weeping heart cut-out, as well as file and punch work.  The head is about 5 1/2" long.

The French throwing 'hawk is accurately pattered on a very old style.  Story is that the Gauls gave Caesar a really hard time with these. This pattern was in use over a long period and, I've read that examples have been found as late as the American Colonial period.

The French Lady 'Hawk is slightly lighter in weight than the French 'hawk above.  Design is certainly more graceful in appearance!
